International dissemination event
The event opened with a speech by Prof. Dr. May-Britt Kallenrode, President of the University fo Hildesheim, who defined ATTUNE as "a very good example of facing a global challenge and trying to do locally the right thing to work against climate change. An important project especiallyfor students because it shows that not only we are facing a big challenge but we can also learn that we can do something, we learn about self-efficiency.”
Then Carlos Oppe, president of GAP Spain (project coordinator), gave an overview of the project and its results to all the participants, and we deepened one of the core points of our project: Why is it important to work from universities to tackle climate change?
Before going into details about the experience of the participating universities, four students from the Italian Research Action Teams showed all the great actions they implemented at the University of Siena.
Then University of Siena, University of Hildesheim, University of the Basque Country, Özyegin University and Maria Grzegorzewska University shared their two years’ experience of participation in the project, the positive outcomes and satisfactions but also the difficulties and how they overcame them.
Lastly, the ATTUNE journey was presented step by step, in order to give a clear idea on how the ATTUNE Programme can be easily implemented by any other university.
The recording of the event and the materials can be found on the project website.
German training session
In the afternoon, agado and the Green Office Hildesheim held a training session for German universities that would like to implement the ATTUNE programme at their institution. Participants learned from the experience of the University of Hildesheim and received practical tips on how to implement the programme.
After a detailed presentation of the measures of the German Research Action Teams, the participants sounded out the areas of their university that would be interesting for participation in ATTUNE. The training concluded with an exchange of experiences between the German ATTUNE team and the participating university representatives with regard to sustainability projects.
